The USGBC - San Diego Chapter would like to offer its condolences to those adversely impacted by the recent wildfires. In response to the need and opportunity to rebuild with sustainable structures, we have launched the San Diego Sustainable Rebuilding Task Force to provide a coordinated response in concert with USGBC national, the Southern California USGBC chapters, and other key local organizations to strategically assist those who lost homes or incurred structure damage associated with the 2007 (and 2003) wildfires. This effort will address awareness, education and implementation support in the planning, design, construction and operation of resource efficient, fire-resistant, low environmental impact buildings. Participating local Task Force members include:
American Institute of Architects
American Society of Interior Designers
The American Society of Landscape Architects
The Building Industry Association
California Center for Sustainable Energy
National Association of the Remodeling Industry
San Diego Gas & Electric
Urban Land Institute
