Program Description:
The process of obtaining LEED certification for Existing Buildings examines exterior building site maintenance programs, water and energy use, environmentally preferred products and ongoing practices for cleaning and alterations, sustainable purchasing policies, waste stream management, and indoor environmental quality. Join us to learn about the measures the Fleet Science Center took to achieve LEED Silver Certification EB: O&M, from the set-backs and challenges, to the final accomplishment.
SDG&E’s award winning Sustainable Communities Program integrates utility owned clean generation systems, such as solar, within green building projects and has 18 projects to date. The Reuben H Fleet Science Center features an SDG&E-owned 10,000 square foot 100-kW PV system on the rooftop which provides locally generated renewable energy to the park. This presentation will cover actual cases studies and savings data related to the SDG&E Sustainable Communities Program.

After a long wait, the LEED Home Tour is finally here! Come join the Women’s Environmental Council as we take a look at the LEED home building and certification process with a tour of a LEED Platinum home in Rancho Bernardo. The home is recently completed after being rebuilt after the 2007 fire. Socializing and light refreshments will follow the tour.

The Women in Green Forum will bring together an international audience focused on environmental issues, including academic researchers, business experts, energy analysts, and technology developers. The WIGF will also appeal to regulatory agencies involved in developing the policies and legislation which will further the development and propagation of green technologies on our roads, in our homes and at our schools.
The first day will kick-off with an overview of womens' impact on the environmental industry with speakers representing Fortune 500 companies, top government posts, leading academic institutions, and successful small businesses. As a backdrop to the sessions, the Expo Hall will provide attendees with exposure to the latest in green products and services. Coffee breaks and networking activities will take place in the Expo Hall in order to encourage dialogue between attendees and the wide range of exhibitors.
The second day will feature a variety of breakout session tracks by industry segment, including: Green Building, Consumer Products, Green Schools, Eco Fashion, Clean Transportation, Alternative Energy, Organic Food, Community Initiatives, Recycling and Waste Diversion and Green Events. The sessions will feature companies and organizations making key progress in these areas. The afternoon will focus on the “Future Leaders” and help open the doors to women who are interested in careers in green fields. There will be roundtables where attendees can sign up to engage in small group discussions about various career tracks.
