Advocacy Committee Purpose
The Advocacy Committee is responsible for promoting awareness and provides support for green buildings to local governments, institutions, public and private sector entities and the general public; maintains a database of local government activities and initiatives; and assists in and encourages the adoption of LEED® by local governments, institutions, public and private sector entities, as well as the general public.

- The Governmental Liaison advocates on behalf of USGBC-SD to local, regional and statewide governmental and public agencies.

- The Industry Liaison advocates on behalf of USGBC-SD to private industry, NGO's and    professional organizations.

- The Interregional Liaison advocates on behalf of USGBC-SD to other USGBC Chapters in Southern California and Mexico.

Goals

• Educate decision-makers on green building issues & opportunities
• Inventory and track current market metrics in green real estate
• Advocate before local/regional/state public agencies and officials
• Advocate before private industry, designers, contractors, owners, developers
