September 19th Meeting
CSUSM Sustainability Master Plan,
Design Guidelines and Energy Projects
Director of Sustainability and Utility Services at Cal State University, San Marcos
Ed has been involved in energy management and sustainability for over 34 years at 3 different University campuses: UC Santa Barbara, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and most recently as Director of the Sustainability and Utilities Department at Cal State San Marcos (CSUSM).
At CSUSM he has overseen all energy and utility projects since 2004. During that time, while the university utility budget remained flat, the campus BTU/SF was reduced by 40% in electricity usage and by 50% in natural gas consumption. Water use dropped 11% despite adding 3 ball fields and 5 buildings.
In August 2014 Ed retired from CSUSM and has started consulting and teaching energy and water classes at CSUSM.
We are grateful for the support and sponsorship of this meeting by DPR.
