October Green Salon - Driving Change in Our Neighborhoods
at the Copley Price Family YMCA (CPFY)

The topic for this month's green salon is the Copley Price Family YMCA - and the impact on Community Development and Wellness. Panelists include representation from the CPFY board, CPFY operations and construction, and the Kensington-Talmadge Planning Group. Join us for an exciting conversation about the transition from abandoned Ford dealership to a community health and wellness center!

About the Copley Price Family YMCA: In late 2010, Robert Price, president of Price Charities, approached the Copley Y with an amazing offer: to donate the former Pearson Ford Dealership site at El Cajon Blvd and Fairmount Avenue, a 3.7 acre parcel on which to build a new YMCA. The Price family has dedicated the better part of two decades in developing the City Heights community; Price Charities purchased the former Pearson Ford site in 2009. Mr. Price shared the vision of a new and expanded YMCA as a vehicle through which people of diverse backgrounds will come together and participate in programs that emphasize youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

This is a $35 event for chapter members, $45 for non-members, please be sure to pre-register to inform our planning for this event. This session will count for 1.5 hours of General GBCI continuing education.

Thank you to the event sponsor and patron of the Sustainable Communities Program Sudbury Properties

This month's event is hosted by our Events Committee, a committee of the San Diego Green Building Council.
