Understanding Risks of Sustainable Design - Design Practice Standards and Lien Strategies

Emerging green building trends and recent case law pertaining to construction defect litigation compel designers and builders to re-evaluate their liability. From a legal point of view, architects have a unique role among building industry professionals in terms of their quest for “Getting the Work, Doing the Work, and Getting Paid.” This course offers forensic and legal perspectives on sustainable design issues, focusing on how the design professional can minimize the risk of litigation and utilize fee recovery strategies to protect their bottom-line. Review of case studies will illustrate types construction defects and give insight into how experts determine and verify a defect, and how they decide who is involved.

This course provides 1 AIA HSW + 1 GBCI.
