Neighborhood Sustainability Programs

Sponsored by San Diego Gas & Electric

Sustainability programs like Living Building Challenge, LEED, BuildItGreen, PassivHaus and more focus on individual buildings' performance, and connections with their local communities. In recent years, many of these programs, and a few additional standards, have developed sustainability standards at the community scale. This creates an opportunity to investigate interconnections between buildings, roadways, access to services, affordable housing, and resource efficiencies of scale such as water and energy infrastructure.

Join us for a presentation with Douglas Kot, DNV-GL, on community sustainability and what this means. Doug will dive into a few key Neighborhood Sustainability programs, such as LEED for Neighborhood Development, EcoDistricts, Districts2030, and Living Communities. This session will also include a discussion of local policy as it relates to sustainable neighborhoods, and a local case study for comparison.
