Energy & Wellness - Energy Considerations in the WELL Building Standard

8:00 AM - 12:30 PM
Location
SDG&E Energy Innovation Center (EIC), 4760 Clairemont Mesa Blvd., San Diego, CA 92117
Energy & Wellness
Sponsored by SDG&E Energy Innovation Center
As the Design, Construction, Engineering industries converge on the central topic of Health and Wellness in the built environment, we are seeing new metrics and rating systems like the WELL Building Standard come into play. The importance of wellbeing and the 'human experience' in our built environment is better understood with each project intentionally considering occupants throughout the design process. This session will introduce metrics and client-designer conversations that shed light on the overall value of wellness strategies in indoor spaces. Many wellness strategies are tied directly to energy savings, like access to daylight or natural ventilation. However, other areas, such as water and air filtration, will become energy considerations, things that add more energy demand to deliver a healthy workspace in our buildings. This session is intended for designers, occupants, HR and employment professionals and project owners to best understand health impacts of our surroundings.
