The Green Schools Challenge is a friendly competition where schools develop a sustainable or “green” project and conduct it between November 2016 - March 31, 2017.


Any public, charter, or private K-12 school located in San Diego County is welcome to participate. Please only one project per school. School-wide projects are welcome.

Winners will be selected by our panel of expert judges in May 2017
and have a chance to win the following:

Grand Prize Winner
Equipment and/or supplies valued at up to $1000 to support the school's sustainability work and projects.
No cash, credit, or change will be given.

First Place Winners
For each grade level, Elementary, Middle and High School
Equipment and/or supplies valued at up to $500 each to support the school's sustainability work and projects.
No cash, credit, or change will be given.



Ready to Take the Challenge?

  1. Teams develop their project idea and submit application by November 14, 2016 * Deadline Extended!

  2. Each team is assigned a green mentor

  3. Teams submit project presentation & documentation March 31, 2017

  4. Projects from each grade level (elementary, middle, and high school) are judged by our panel of experts using our scoring rubric.

  5. Winning schools are announced and prizes distributed May 2017
